Behind the Player and Coach
Megan Pedersen is an accomplished softball coach known for her exceptional leadership, dedication, and passion for the sport. Hailing from a small town in South Dakota, Megan discovered her love for softball at a young age and quickly developed into a formidable player.
When Megan was 13, she joined the South Dakota Renegades. She achieved many accomplishments with the Renegades:
-Placed top 10 multiple times in the Independence Day Tournament in Boulder, CO
- Played in the Independence Day Tournament All-Star Game in 2016
- Played the Jr. Olympic National Team
- Played on USA Hall of Fame Stadium (where the WCW’S is held)
- 2016 PGF Premier Runner-up, Huntington Beach, CA
With Iowa Premier, she got to play for another championship and won the 2019 PGF Platinum National Championship. They also placed top 8 in the Sparkler Tournament in Boulder, CO.
Upon graduating high school, Megan played two years at division 1 Northern Illinois University. In the Spring of 2024, she graduated with honors from West Texas A&M University as a 5th year senior majoring in Finance and Economics with a minor in Business Management. Pedersen had an outstanding senior season making 3rd Team All Conference and All Lone Star Conference Tournament Team. In 2024, West Texas won the Lone Star Conference Tournament against the University of Texas Tyler. They concluded the 2024 season in the Regional championship (17th best team in the country). West Texas won the 2021 National Championship and competes in one of the best conferences for division 2 softball.
Megan's journey as a softball coach began during her high school years when she coached the Alexandria Angels 8u, 10u, and 12u teams. She primarily worked with those ages in the beginning of her coaching career. Soon after, she started coaching for the South Dakota Renegades and coached within their 10u, 12u, and 14u age groups.
